The Peoria German-American Society’s annual Maifest, will be held Sunday, May 5th at the Lindenhof, 7601 N. Harker Drive, Peoria, Illinois, from Noon to 6 pm. Admission to the event is free.
Maifest marks the revival of life in early spring after a long cold winter. In medieval times, Maifest became the favorite holiday. People would gather spring flowers to decorate their homes and churches and perform dances around the Maipole.
This year’s Maifest will offer a wide variety of German entertainment including dancing, singing, alphorns, and Al’s Pals Polka Band.
Activities for the kids will also be provided. EPIC will be on hand selling plants and vegetables starts. The Damenchor German Gift Shop will be selling items perfect for Mother’s Day!
Attendees will enjoy German foods, German wines and Maibock beer.
