2018 Peoria Historical Calendar Features Popular Local Theatres
The 2018 Peoria Historical Calendar is now available. This year, the calendar features vintage photographs of the theatres that were once prevalent entertainment venues throughout Peoria and helped coin the popular phrase “Will it play in Peoria?” The photographs for this year’s calendar were provided by the Peoria Historical Society, and the historical content for each page was provided by the Bradley University Special Collections Center and the Peoria Public Library.
“During an age when we are used to seeing movies in large multiplexes, it was nice to take a trip down memory lane and feature theatres that provided an escape from reality for many residents and visitors to Peoria over the years,” said Emily Watson, CityLink Director of Marketing and Public Relations. “Many of the theatres in this year’s calendar are no longer standing, but we are pleased to include the Peoria Players Theatre and Corn Stock Theatre, both of which continue to entertain audiences with live theatre productions featuring local talent.”
The 2018 Peoria Historical Calendar is available for a suggested donation of $5.00 at the CityLink Transit Center (407 SW Adams) and the CityLink Administrative Office (2105 NE Jefferson). It makes for a great stocking stuffer for the local history buff on everyone’s Christmas shopping list. All proceeds collected will be donated to the Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service.
