  • Center for Prevention of Abuse Kicks Off 31st Annual Duck Race with BOGO Ducks at Kelleher’s

    What:                 The Center for Prevention of Abuse is hosting a party at Kelleher’s Irish Pub & Eatery to kick off its 31st Annual Duck Race, which raises funds to provide free and confidential services to help all women, men, and children live free from violence and abuse in Central Illinois. Ducks are available for adoption beginning at the kickoff party.
                                 Kelleher’s will close down a block of Water Street for the duration of the outdoor event. The event will feature an appearance and photo opportunity with the Duck Race mascot, music from Mix 106.9, Duck Race and CFPA merchandise for sale, snacks, and drinks available for purchase.

    Why:                   At the kickoff party, ducks are buy one, get one free while supplies last. Community members can sponsor a duck for $5 or form a fundraising team June 6, 2019 through race day on August 24, 2019, when 30,000 ducks will race down a giant water slide at EastSide Centre in East Peoria. The person whose duck crosses the finish line first will win $10,000 cash. Second prize is $5,000 cash and third prize is a $2,500 gift card to Sherman’s. In honor of the 31st year, the top 31 finishers will receive prizes. This year’s event features a new time, where the fun starts at 4:00 p.m. with food trucks, live music, and fun for the whole family, and the race begins at 6:00 p.m.
    CFPA Duck Race is the longest running duck race in the country. Thanks to generous sponsors, 100% of the proceeds go to support all of the programs and services offered at CFPA to help every woman, man, and child live free from violence and abuse.
