Daisy Award Winners Named at OSF Saint Francis
OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center is pleased to announce the most recent winners of the DAISY Award, which recognizes outstanding nursing care. Winners are nominated by patients and their families.
The August 2017 Daisy Award was presented to Camille San German from Hannah City. She works in the Neuro Intermediate unit. Her nomination from the family member of a patient reads:
When transferred from ICU, Camille ordered a cot for me to be with (my husband). We both had a crying breakdown and Camille comforted both of us. Three days she took care of (my husband) medically, physically and comforted him through his depression and tears. She coached me to get fresh air and run home after 10 days. She said she would take care of him while I was gone. Camille is not only deserving of this award, she should be put on a pedestal for her true love of nursing and her patients.
The September 2017 Daisy Award was given to Stacy Alfredson from Pekin. She works in the Neuro Surgery Intermediate unit. Her nomination from the family member of a patient reads:
Stacy helped my family through a very difficult time. We had to make the decision to withdraw care and focus on comfort. Stacy was there to cry with us, laugh with us, and hug us. She took excellent and loving care of my dad, as well as mom, his wife of 60 years. We will forever remember the kindness and love shown by her.
The Daisy Award is a national endeavor that recognizes exemplary professional practice among nurses. OSF Saint Francis was the first hospital in the Midwest to participate in the program. Nurses who win receive a special pin and a bouquet of daisies.
