Mark and Jeannette Kleine Named Outstanding Philanthropists by Association of Fundraising Profession
Mark and Jeannette Kleine have been named Outstanding Philanthropists by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Central Illinois chapter.
Throughout their professional careers, they have been visionary leaders in philanthropic and revitalization efforts to enhance and improve the Galesburg, Illinois community and beyond.
The AFP Award for Outstanding Philanthropist honors an individual or family with a proven record of exceptional generosity who, through direct financial support, demonstrates outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and whose generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles on a community, national and/or international level.
Most recently, the Kleine’s commitment to children compelled them to make a gift of $1.5 million to the OSF HealthCare Foundation for the creation of the Mark and Jeannette Kleine Pediatric Wellness Center at OSF HealthCare St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. This collaborative center will bring the resources and expertise of the OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois to OSF St. Mary for the first-of-its-kind pediatric wellness program for children in Galesburg and the surrounding region.
“The Kleine family is touching lives through their philanthropic and visionary leadership. Their personal giving and tremendous civic efforts are changing the face of the community,” said Tom Hammerton, President, OSF HealthCare Foundation. “I thank them for helping to build a culture of philanthropy throughout the OSF HealthCare System. We cannot think of a couple more deserving of this award.”
For many years, the Kleines have been engaged in creating new businesses, revitalizing old ones and fortifying the hope that a brighter economic future is in store for Galesburg. To bolster this effort, Mark and Jeannette created the Kleine Center for Community Service at Knox College. This center manages a wide range of engagement opportunities including volunteer service, charitable activities and community outreach designs for students, faculty and staff and Knox College.
Mark is a member of the OSF HealthCare Foundation Board of Directors. He also serves on the board of the Galesburg Community Foundation, is a former Knox College Trustee and current St. Ambrose College Trustee. Jeannette is a member and past president of the Galesburg Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, a member of the Knox County YMCA Board of Directors and a member of the Galesburg Downtown Council.
