(Peoria, IL) – Registration is now open for the Methodist College Learn and Serve Camp for middle school students in grades 5th – 9th. Learn and Serve camp for incoming grades 5th – 8th will take place July 8-12 and camp for incoming grades 7th – 9th will be July 15 - 19. Learn and Serve camp is 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each day and is held at the Methodist College campus. Camp is $125 per attendee with the option to add daily lunches, and optional before and after care. Participants may choose to bring their own lunch.
Methodist College nursing students serve as camp leaders and will design and deliver the curriculum. Camp leaders will teach practical learning experiences in healthcare and healthy living in the morning and real-life service projects at community organizations in the afternoon.

The service projects are directly related to the morning learning experience. More importantly, campers serve their community alongside their college student counterparts. Each day of the camp features a learning component and a service component. In past years, the nursing students taught the campers about nutrition and healthy living and then volunteered at the Midwest Food Bank in the afternoon.
