The Peoria Fire Department would like to promotions within the command staff. Assistant Chief Ed Olehy has been named Chief effective February 1st. Chief Olehy joined the fire department in 1989. Prior to becoming the Assistant Fire Chief he served as Division Chief of Operations for four years and then spent two years as Assistant Chief. Chief Olehy has served on numerous local and state committees. He has been the leader for the department’s efforts to become accredited. Chief Olehy has been instrumental in efforts to reduce cancer among firefighters by implementing mandatory washing of turnout gear after every fire, mandatory wearing of self-contained breathing self-contained breathing apparatus masks inside of a structure and changing out the fire-retardant Nomax protective hoods following every fire.
Division Chief of Training Paul Brodkorb has been named Assistant Chief, also effective February 1st. Chief Brodkorb joined the Fire Department in 1990 and has served as Division Chief of Training for the past seven years. Chief Brodkorb was an original member of the Peoria Fire Department Technical Response Team and has been instrumental in all areas of Fire Department Training.
Mike Morgan has been promoted to Division Chief of Training, effective January 2nd. Chief Morgan joined the fire department in 1990. Chief Morgan is an original member of the Peoria Department Dive Rescue Team and has been in charge of the training and development of that team for the past six years.
Tony Ardis has been promoted to Division Chief of Operations effective January 2nd. Chief Ardis joined the fire department in 1994. Chief Ardis has held several positions of leadership within Firefighters Local 50. He was an instrumental part of negotiating several past contracts for the department. Chief Ardis will oversee the day to day operations for all suppression personnel to include the EMS operations of the Peoria Fire Department.
Stan Taylor has been promoted to the Division Chief of Prevention, also effective February 1. . Chief Taylor joined the department in 1990. Chief Taylor worked many years in suppression before transferring to the prevention division 8 years ago. Chief Taylor will oversee the fire departments inspection program, fire prevention division and the hazardous material division.
