Peoria, ILThe Center for Prevention of Abuse (CFPA) is teaming up with local coffee shop and roastery CxT Roasting Company in honor of Human Trafficking Awareness Month this January to educate community members about labor and sex trafficking in Central Illinois.
Beginning today, Monday, January 7, all coffee and tea drinks at CxT Roasting Company will feature a unique blue coffee sleeve, the color of human trafficking awareness, with information about human trafficking in Illinois and the 24/7 crisis hotline at CFPA. CxT Roasting Company will donate ten cents from every cup of coffee sold now through the end of the month to CFPA to support their mission of helping all people live free from violence and abuse.
“We are proud to partner with CxT Roasting Company for the second year in a row to bring awareness to human trafficking in our community,” said Carol Merna, Executive Director of the Center for Prevention of Abuse. “CxT Roasting Company’s coffee is fair trade and the company abides by slavery-free and trafficked-free business practices, making them a natural partner in our fight against modern day slavery in Central Illinois.”
Customers are encouraged to take a photo with their coffee cup and post to social media with the hashtag #fightHTin309 to help raise awareness about the partnership and human trafficking.
CFPA opened its Human Trafficking Services department in January 2018 and is the sanctioned, trained, and federally granted service provider for human trafficking services for survivors south of Kankakee, Illinois and Iroquois County, and provider of beds and shelter for survivors south of Chicago, Illinois.
CxT Roasting Company is located in downtown Peoria at 309B Main Street, Peoria, IL 61602 and 230 SW Adams, Peoria, IL 61602.
