Committees

The Chamber has many committees of volunteers working to bring value to the membership. A list of those committees as well as a short description appears below.



Government Affairs
Reviews legislative priorities, develops the Chambers' legislative agenda and makes recommendations regarding policy positions to the Chambers' Board of Directors. Develops and maintains relationships with area elected officials and oversees government affairs programming.


Membership & Marketing
Aims to assist in the acquisition and retention of Chamber members, work with Chamber Ambassadors, evaluate and recommend to the Chambers' Board of Directors any changes in member dues, tiered dues, or membership policies. This committee is a resource to the Marketing Director on marketing plans and projects and oversees the communications audit.

Transportation
Reviews transportation policies and projects (road, air, barge, bus, etc) and recommends positions and actions to the Chambers' Board of Directors. Works to maintain relationships with key government transportation officers.

Workforce Development and Education
Reviews and recommends positions on education and workforce development related issues to the Chamber Board of Directors, oversees education and workforce development related programming, and develops and maintains relationships with area educational institution and workforce providers.

Young Professionals Organization of Greater Peoria
Develops programs and opportunities to attract and retain young professionals within the region and acts a link between YPGP members and the Chamber Board of Directors.

Finance Committee
Reviews the Chamber's financial statements, proposed finance policies, and works with staff on the budget.

Member Services Committee
Oversees the development of programs of interest to Chamber members, provides insight for surveys, focus groups, and other means of understanding member program interests and needs. Includes the chairs of program committees listed below.

 

 


 

Program Committees


Ambassadors
The focus of the Ambassador program is to further the mission of the Chamber by increasing member retention and participation through mentoring, referrals, personal contact and communication.

Community Leadership School
Develops and trains new leaders for service to the community. CLS acquaints participants with a broad range of programs and issues, familiarizes them with the local government, and makes them aware of community services and resources.

Golf Outing
This committee helps plan the Chamber’s annual Golf Outing, held each summer.

Business Showcase
This committee helps plan the annual Business Showcase, the area’s largest trade show held in the spring.

Awards
This committee helps give direction to the awards given out to area businesses every year at the Heartland Partnership Annual Meeting.

Subsidiaries

Business Resource Services

Business Resource Services of Central Illinois is a wholly-owned, for-profit subsidiary of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce. It provides value-added products and services to Chamber of Commerce members by creating a purchasing alliance of Chamber members, and utilizing the strength of that alliance to develop and market products and services which will assist in maintaining a profitable environment for member businesses.
