The Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce is an active advocate for business in our community on a variety of legislative issues. Our Business Advocacy Committeeis working hard to affect positive change for business. The Business Advocacy Committee works closely with the Illinois Chamber to develop joint legislative agendas. We take a proactive role in advocating for business, and assist local government by adding business expertise, reviewing local ordinances, and practices that create barriers for business development. We lobby for business interest.

By identifying the needs of business today, the Chamber is better able to offer the businesses valued products and services in the future. Giving business what they need to help them thrive, and help our community thrive, as well. Our community's future depends on our children. Education and workforce development are essential to the Peoria area's future. Tomorrow will hold a much different picture for the work force. The 30-year career in one company is a thing of the past; tomorrow's workforce may average seven job changes and three career changes. The majority of tomorrow's workforce will function in businesses of 15-50 employees. Knowledge-based activities will dominate all new jobs, and sifting through the mass of data will become a prized skill rather than finding information.

The Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce is charged with the task of providing our children with a prosperous community in which to work; solid, relevant education; and an environment that is exciting and enticing which will propel our community in the right direction.  Providing an educated, competent workforce is vital to economic success in the area. We partner with the education community and Workforce Development to ensure that our community has the people resources to support economic development.
