Political Involvement and Business Advocacy

Business Issue Advocacy – Whether it is transportation issues, City codes or regulations, education reform or other issues important to the business community, the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce will work to represent our members before elected bodies to be sure that the business climate is one that attracts and retains development in our communities.  Business friendly regulations and business-welcoming attitudes by both elected officials and government employees will strengthen the environment for member companies.  The Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce can bring together a collective voice for business that is difficult for any one business to do alone.

CIRCLE – CIRCLE (Central Illinois Regional Chambers Legislative Effort) is a collaboration between the chambers in Peoria, Chillicothe, East Peoria, Morton, Pekin and Washington to identify and lobby for key issues or projects of importance to business in the region at the state level.  Each year issues or projects are identified and developed leading to a day long trip to the state capitol to meet with legislators, committee staff and departmental representatives who have the ability to impact the issues.

Heart of Illinois Legislative Reception- This annual event, sponsored by the area chambers, offers the opportunity to improve the lines of communication between the business community and our state elected officials.  This reception will give you the opportunity to speak directly to area representatives on issues that are important to you.
