  • Peoria Chamber Hires Local Businesswoman as Interim President

Peoria, IL (June 24, 2013)—The Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce has hired Mary Ardapple as interim President.  Ardapple will be stepping in to lead the Chamber until a permanent replacement has been found.

As owner and founder of Apples Bakery along with representing the District 11 on the Peoria County Board, Ardapple brings an entrepreneurial passion and drive to her new role.  She served as Chamber Board Chairperson in 2006 and has been a proud Chamber member since 1984.

She is excited about this opportunity to champion the “voice” of business and ready to hit the ground running.  “I believe in the mission of the Chamber and all that it has to offer our community’s businesses.  My goal is to build the organization for future leadership in a manner which exemplifies keen understanding of today’s business needs with an eye on the future.”

Chamber Board Chairman Brent Eichelberger says Ardapple fit the qualifications the board was looking for in an interim leader.  “We wanted someone with strong Leadership skills, someone with a strong grasp of sales and marketing and someone who could oversee government affairs issues.  Mary is the right person to keep leading the Peoria Chamber moving forward in the right direction.”

Cal MacKay, President of the Greater Peoria Business Alliance is confident Ardapple will be a great asset to the team.  “We have very dedicated and hard working staff here at the Chamber. They all know and respect Mary which will make this a smooth transition.  The staff is excited and looking forward to the energy she will bring with her.  There are great things ahead for the Peoria Chamber.”

A national search is underway for a permanent replacement.  Former Chamber President Roberta Parks left the organization after 25 years to pursue a new position as Vice President of the Foundation at UnityPoint Health-Methodist.

Ardapple is available for interviews Monday, June 24th.  To schedule an interview please contact Renee Charles at 229-7791 or rcharles@peoriabusiness.org.
