  • The Raise of Minimum Wage Increases

Senate Bill 68 sponsored by Senator Kimberly Lightfor is a
proposal to raise minimum wage over a three year period
from 9.25 an hour by October 1st to 10.65 an hour by July
2016. This would make Illinois the state with the highest
    miniumum wage in the U.S.

Although the bill moved out of committee and onto the floor,
it is unclear when Senator Kimberly Lightford will call a
vote for the bill on the Senate floor. Senator Tom Cullerton
believes they are just a few short of votes to pass the bill.
In the house, Senator Madigan is currently working on
members to gain their support for the increase of minimum
    wage.
