  • Tornado Relief Grants Deadline Extended to May 1

Residents affected by the tornado who still need assistance can apply for monetary grants until May 1, 2014.

Since the November 17, when a tornado rolled through central Illinois communities leaving destruction in its wake, over 159 people have applied for these grants, and to-date, over $168,000 in aid has been given out in one-time grants to families and individuals affected by the storm disaster.

From now through May 1, disaster victims can still receive up to $1,500 to help with a mortgage payment, expenses for temporary housing or a rent payment. From a second relief fund, they can receive up to $500 to help with expenses related to their daily needs including employment, food, transportation or other costs related to their day-to-day living. (With funds still available, everyone should submit, even if covered by insurance.)

Residents will be able to apply for this financial assistance by contacting PAAR. They can stop by the PAAR offices at 7307 N. Willowlake Court, Peoria, IL 61614 or can call (309) 688-8591. To qualify, a brief grant application must be completed and submitted with documentation. For housing costs, that should include a copy of last mortgage statement, rental/lease agreement or temporary housing costs (up to $1,500). Other documentation may be required.

Residents unable to come to PAAR during business hours of 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, but still desiring assistance from the REALTOR® Relief Foundation and the Illinois Realtors® Relief fund may apply by downloading and filling out these forms:
