  • Veteran Unemployment Rates

    Illinois currently has an unemployment rate of 9.2% (Illinois Department of Employment Security, June 2013) and a veteran unemployment rate of 6.8% (Illinois Department of Employment Security, 2012). The U.S. has a current unemployment rate of 7.6% (Illinois Department of Employment Security, June 2013) and a veteran unemployment rate of 7.0% (U.S. Department of Labor, 2012).
     

    What does the veteran unemployment rate look like in Central Illinois? The following chart breaks down the unemployment rates by age for veterans living in Central Illinois.
     

    Peoria's veteran unemployment rate is significantly higher than the U.S. rate and the Illinois rate across all age groups listed below. Tazewell's veteran unemployment rate for 18-34 year olds is higher than the U.S. and Illinois veteran unemployment rates. Woodford's veteran unemployment rate for the 35-54 age bracket is significantly higher than the U.S. and Illinois unemployment rates.
